Information package for immigrants and new residents

Welcome to Frøya

This information package is created for those who are new to Frøya and new to Norway. Here you will find useful information about everyday life, work, language, community meeting places, and links to public services and local resources.

The information package is a supplement to the page Ny på Frøya - New in Frøya, which provides general information for all new residents.

New in Norway

As someone newly arrived in Norway, there may be a lot to learn. On the national portal New in Norway, you will find information about rights, obligations, and practical matters related to living and working in Norway.

Practical Information for everyday life

As a new resident of Frøya, you may need information about:

Work and rights

As an employee in Norway, you have both rights and obligations. Frøya Municipality does not provide legal counselling but will direct you to the appropriate public agencies responsible for information and guidance.

Recognition of education from abroad

In some professions, your education or professional qualifications must be approved before you can work in Norway.

Language and Norwegian courses

Learning Norwegian is important for work, education, and participation in society. Frøya Municipality can assist you in finding Norwegian language courses.

Language practice and meeting places in Frøya

The Language Café is an informal meeting place where you can practice Norwegian and get to know others. New residents and locals meet for pleasant conversation, social interaction, and language practice in a lowthreshold setting. The Language Café is held regularly at Frøya Library.
